Spring trout feed on mayflies, caddis and small stonefly nymphs. A size 14 dry, a size 16 nymph, a small olive streamer, a caddis pupa and a midge cover most days.
Keep them in a sealed box with a dry patch so the hooks stay sharp. Replace any fly that has lost its hackle; a bare fly hardly floats.
